The straight tongue couplers like the Dutton-Lainson 3-Inch Trailer Coupler, part # DL13897 are available for trailer tongues with either a 2-inch, 2-1/2-inch, or 3-inch channel. I would recommend for you to measure the trailer channel at a point where you are not measuring the coupler and see if it measures 3 inches wide. If you are measuring the width of the trailer channel including the coupler it will normally measure larger than 3 inches.

You could try and use the Pole-Tongue Adapter for Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Systems # EQ95-01-5950 which would get bolted to your tongue after the coupler. It doesn't look like a whole lot of room, but since that gap sits 29" from the hitch ball and you have at least one inch of space this'll work.

If you fabricated a spacer setup on your trailer tongue so that the Titan Disc Brake Kit part # T4843300 was basically attaching to a 3 inch by 4 inch section of channel this would fit and work fine.

If your utility trailer has a 2 inch wide by 3 inch tall square tube pole tongue and the capacity of the trailer is 3,500 lbs or less, the Fulton Fas-Lok Coupler, # F222000301, will work great for you. You can measure the distance between the mounting bolts on your original coupler to see if new holes will need to be drilled for installation of this coupler.
